On time и In time. At the end и In the end
On time означает вовремя. Если что-то происходит "on time", это происходит в запланированное время:
- The 11.45 train left on time.
- "I'll meet you at 7.30." "OK, but please be on time."
- The conference was well-organised. Everything began and finished on time.
- Противоположное значение к on time имеет late:
- Be on time. Don't be late.
Быть in time к чему-то или сделать что-то in time означает вовремя, не опаздывая:
- Will you be home in time for dinner?
- I've sent Emma a birthday present. I hope it arrives in time.
- I'm in a hurry. I want to be home in time to see the game on television.
