Глагол + about ...


  • Мы говорим talk, read, know about something, tell somebody about something
  • We talked about a lot of things at the meeting.

  • have a discussion about something, но discuss something
  • We had a discussion about what we should do.
  • We discussed a lot of things at the meeting.

  • do something about something = сделать что-нибудь, чтобы улучшить плохую ситуацию.
  • If you're worried about the problem, you should do something about it.

  • dream about ... (когда вы спите)
  • I dreamt about you last night.
  • dream about/of being something или doing something = мечтать
  • Do you dream about(of) being rich and famous?
  • wouldn't dream of being something = и даже не мечтать о чем-то
  • "Don't tell anyone what I said." "No, I wouldn't dream of it."

  • care about somebody, something = думать о ком-то, считать что-либо выжным.
  • He's very selfish. He doesn't care about other people.
  • Мы говорим care what/where/how ... без about
  • You can do what you like. I don't care what you do.
  • care for something = нравиться, хотеться (употребляется обычно в вопросах и отрицательных предложениях).
  • Would you care for a cup of coffee?
  • I don't care for very hot weather.
  • care for somebody = заботиться о ком-то.
  • Alan is 85 and lives alone. He needs somebody to care for him.
  • take care of = присматривать, заботиться.
  • Have a nice holiday. Take care of yourself!

  • here about = быть осведомленным о чем-то
  • Did you hear about what happened at the club on Saturday night?

  • think about something = подумать, обратить внимание на что-то:
  • I've thought about what you said and I've decided to take your advice.
  • "Will you lend me the money?" "I'll think about it."

  • remind (somebody) about = напомнить (кому-то).
  • I'm glad you reminded me about the meeting. I'd completely forgotten about it.

  • complain (to somebody) about ... = жаловаться (кому-то).
  • We complained to the manager of the restaurant about the food.

  • warn (somebody) about = предупреждать (кого-то) об опасности или о необычной ситуации.
  • I knew he was a strange person. I had been warned about him.
  • Vicky warned me about the traffic. She said it would be bad.
  • Если вы имеете в виду нечто плохое, что может произойти позднее, можно также употребить of.
  • Scientists have warned us about(of) the effects of global warming.

  • ask (somebody) for ...
  • I wrote to the company asking them for more information about the job.
  • но I asked him the way to the parking.
  • or She asked me my name.

  • apply for a job и т.д.
  • I think you'd be good at this job. Why don't you apply for it?

  • wait for ...
  • Don't wait for me. I'll join you later.
  • I'm not going out yet. I'm waiting for the rain to stop.

  • search (a person, a place, ...) for = искать (человека, место, ...)
  • I've searched the house for my keys, but I still can't find them.
  • leave (место) for другое место
  • I haven't seen her since she left home for the office this morning.

  • look for = искать (кого-то, что-то).
  • I've lost my keys. Can you help me to look for them?
  • look after = заботиться, присматривать
  • Alan is 85 and lives alone. He needs somebody to look after him.

  • pay (somebody) for ...
  • I didn't have enough money to pay for the meal.
  • но pay a bill, a fine, tax, rent, a sum of money и т.д. без предлога
  • I didn't have enough money to pay the rent.

  • thank, forgive somebody for ...
  • I've already forgave her for her small lie.

  • apologise (to somebody) for ...
  • When I realised I was wrong, I apologised to them for my mistake.

  • blame somebody, something for ..., somebody is to blame for ...
  • Everybody blamed me for the accident.
  • My chief said that I was to blame for the wrong result.
